[ kon is of the same opinion, here. so he just accepts that, well, now there's three of them and probably a fourth somewhere. ]
Apparently we're in Nier's memories, this go around, so it's probably not related to Wiwaldi. [ ... oh, claude was talking to someone. ] Sorry for interrupting. We were collecting info on missing persons cases, so we've been all over town.
Last that one of the postmen had seen his daughter, a little while ago, was when she was talking about checking out the ship. Apparently people have been going to it for a test of courage.
[ we saw missing posters for lalli, yamato, taichi, and maya, too. ]
We went to the police station, and they said they'd just sent an officer out there this morning. [ said to claude, then the following question to both, because this NPC won't give them much more on the ship probably. ] Do we want to regroup?
Sounds like a plan. [ He will smile at this fishmonger because she did her best. ] Thanks for your help.
[ Like a jerk, Claude will walk away without buying any fish, assuming they can huddle out of the way somewhere, he'll look at both of them with a little frown. ]
So, this ship. I woke up there and it was completely abandoned. I didn't see a police officer, but we might not have crossed paths. There was a little girl... [ tries to project her image to them both ] But I hesitate to bring her up because I'm not entirely sure she's human. She spoke directly into my head, and was terrified of stepping off the ship.
[ we're saving our money? for other things? probably. it's fine. kon follows after claude easily, frown more apparent now that they aren't socializing with a villager. ]
A spirit, maybe? [ taking that blip of thought and squinting mentally ] Or some kind of entity tied to the ship, if she's not living in the traditional sense.
It could be. Though she was able to eat the food I gave her, and she seemed solid when I gave her a pat...
[ Oh, that's a question he'd been wondering about too. ]
Actually, no. I just woke up, and I've been wandering around since. I thought maybe I was meant to help the little girl... You two were given finding the Ferryman as an objective?
[ a nod. ] Less of a ghost and more of a something, then, probably.
We were given the job in a village north of here. Except I don't really remember going from one place to the other, which should be a thing, considering there are monsters on that route that already killed us once. [ indicating a slash that starts from the bottom of his neck, crosses to his face, and ends at corner of his forehead - fresh, only a little healed, but not bleeding anymore. ]
[ It's at this point that Claude notices their weapons.
He thinks about the fact that he only has a dagger. ]
Do you think we all have the same mission then? To find the remains of this ferryman? [ ... ] Also... there must be someone else here. Normally field trips are groups of four.
We could try to narrow it down by the wanted posters. If we assume that those are illusions...
I feel protective over each of those people. But as much as I care for Lalli, I think it's safe to assume his image is here for Kon. And I am closer with Yamato than I am with Taichi, so...?
[ anyway this might not even help or mean anything if their only presence is some posters to make them worry? ]
Maya was probably meant for me, so. Someone who's close to Taichi.
[ He looks helplessly at Lux, because Fall. ]
Maybe we should prioritize completing our mission first in the hopes that we'll run into them? It seems that doing that brought you two and me together.
[ there's a slight grimace at narrowing it down further from taichi. ]
I think that's probably our best bet. [ soundly pushes down trauma and worry ] So, I guess that brings us to the question of whether we try the north again, go try elsewhere, or take you back to the shipwreck.
[ lux frowns because she's not... sure? she's not as close with taichi herself, which means she also isn't sure of who is close to him besides the obvious boyfriend answer. which. probably isn't it, given the poster of yamato. ]
... I had thought it best we look into the shipwreck, and if that's where Claude's journey began, I'm sure there's something we're meant to do there.
But I also wonder how much more there is to see in a place he's already looked into.
To be honest I didn't explore it that much. I was just trying to get out there - it was pretty creepy. People going missing after venturing to an abandoned ship sounds pretty likely...
But I didn't see any "Shades" there.
[ Still, he doesn't think it would be a bad idea to go back. ]
For the best. [ touching the edge of that slash a bit, but still ] We can see if we can't prepare a little better for it? The market has plenty of stalls, obviously, and Lux and I wound up with some of the currency of this place.
Stock up, give it a try, go from there. See if any of the missing people or our fourth person are in there where you didn't go, and if we can help the little girl.

He looks back at the fishmonger, brows furrowed. ]
I didn't realize there were missing people. I was asking about the shipwreck by the lighthouse. Would you say the two happened around similar timing?
no subject
Hard to say. People go missing all the time here? Kind of normal, but it does sound like more people have disappeared lately...
[ They can't confirm or deny. ]

We were thinking of looking at that shipwreck, too. We're trying to find the missing ferryman. [ He's dead. ]

You wouldn't happen to know if anyone came off that ship, would you?
no subject
... Alive? From that ship? No. Pretty sure the whole crew's dead. You've seen the ship, right? How would anyone survive that?

I would like for us to stick together and work to accomplish all our tasks as one group.
