SPRINGLE - WEEK 0

common room.
In the common room, the walls have been painted with photo-like pictures of forests and lakes, and spread across the ceiling is a depiction of the night sky. One wall is lined with bookcases, the books ranging from fiction to non-fiction as well used course textbooks. More bookcases have been used to section off one corner for a study area, with a desk and chair provided.
Elsewhere, there are a few couches and chairs, most seated around a coffee table and with throw blankets tossed over them if you need the extra warmth. On the table is a bowl of healthy and semi-healthy snacks, regularly stocked. (Nearby is a garbage can.)
This week, there is a welcome basket near the bowl.
specialty room.
Past an entrance in the common room, a mini coffeehouse has been set up, with express machines for those who just want their coffee now and slightly more advanced equipment for aficionados. It offers a variety of strength levels and flavors to accommodate tastes all across the spectrum, along with a teapot and packets of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for those who prefer a different drink. There's a sink if you want to use your own mug, but otherwise, disposable cups are provided for you to use.
Please use this as an open post for members of Spring Dorm. You may post top-levels whenever you'd like and go wild. A new post will go up at the start of each week.

... Guess it won't hurt. [she takes a sip of her concoction.]
Rita Mordio. I'm a scholar. My specialties are magic and technology.
no subject
That's a classic combination if I ever heard one. It's always the small ones, too.

Hey! Don't even think about getting on my bad side.

Was I thinking that? You just happen to remind me of another scholar I know.

[Rita sits down in one of the chairs with her sugar-drink.]
So what about you? What's your deal?
no subject
no subject
[why does that sound sarcastic]
So you just fight in arena tournaments and the like?
no subject
I suppress monsters! I'm no longer a part of the knights, but I was appointed by the Queen. I have my knightly duties, including the people's safety.

[He leans forward.]
What's with you? You don't sound good.
no subject
Do those knightly senses suspect a damsel in distress?

Well, I can't really disagree with the importance of keeping monsters at bay. That's technically part of the job for mages like me, too.

Traditionally, mages are responsible for constructing and maintaining magical barriers that repel monsters from cities. That way, knights only need to be deployed to escort people between cities, or to protect settlements that don't have barriers.

What'd you make?

Coffee.
[duh.]
It was bitter, so I used some of the flavor syrups in there.

Come to think of it, I guess I never got your name.
no subject
It's Taichi. [nice to meet you and stuff.]

[except when he says this, it's pretty obvious he's not exactly connected to the conversation, like he's not sure he believes it.]

And have you decided what you're picking?
