And then the cop appears, walking down the path. It doesn't seem like he's noticed them yet. He continues walking, poking at bushes and looking up at branches in case they climbed.

[ And that's about all the warning they get before a large wolf comes running out of some of the rustling foliage, to leap onto Ichiro and tackle him to the ground. It goes to sink its teeth into his upper right arm.
Miku barks loudly in fear, catching the attention of the cop. ]

ichiro shouts, the noise a strangled curse as he's thrown to the ground by however many pounds of a wolf, and the pain from the bite lights up every pain receptor he's got - he feels the dig into muscle, the tear of flesh, and hits the ground hard.
ichiro's not just gonna give up and let himself get fucking EATEN though so he manages to lift his other arm and starts absolutely whaling on the wolf with his fist the best that he can, kicking and struggling to get this fucking thing off of him. no more yelling at the voice overlord he has a fucking wolf to contend with now. ]
[ That sure did catch the cop's attention. He heads straight for the commotion, and just stares at the funky wolf situation, before going to just try to scoop Miku out of Mabel's grasp as she tries to save Ichiro.
Meanwhile, the wolf lessens its grip on his arm slightly, especially after it gets hit on the head by a rock. It growls, and tries to scratch Ichiro with its claws to get him to stop struggling.
[ Mabel has to give up on fighting the wolf because now she has to deal with the cop again. She grips onto Miku and pushes her back towards her chest with all her might, and will try to kick the cop in the balls again and also headbutt him if she must. ]
[ christ well - he manages to narrowly avoid a claw to the face, but it rakes down his chest, which is not great. he can barely hear the pet store clerk's talking over top of being attacked, and reaches with a desperate hand for mabel's rock, squirming desperately and putting up a hell of a fight even as he's being brutalized by a wolf. ]
Fuck you! [ was that for tanaka-san or the wolf? yes. his hand wraps around the rock, and he brings it up to smash it harder into the stupid wolf's head, aiming for its eye with all of his might, and trying to push back and away from the jaws, trying to get free as aggressively as possible, kicking his legs up into its sides, too. ]
[ Well, the same trick won't work twice. The cop will pull out his pistol and aim it at Mabel's head. ]
Drop the dog.
[ Tanaka just stays silent.
Ichiro manages to hit it in the eye, and the wolf lets go of his arm as it shakes its head, growling in agitation over its new injury. He has a few seconds before it tries to attack again. ]
[ She'll glare daggers at the cop, but eventually the anxiety of having a gun pointed right at her head wins out, and her fierce expression wavers. Slowly, so slowly, she'll kneel down to put Miku on the ground before standing up and taking a step back, waiting for the cop to relent now that he's been given what he wants.
...which is when Mabel turns and makes a break for it. And because she still has the leash around her wrist, Miku gets dragged along too. ]
see the thing is, he's bleeding all over the place and incredibly injured and... he's from a world with no guns, so he does not know how to quickly get a good position to flick off the safety and fire a gun.
however! guns are very heavy metal! therefore! he's able to scramble backwards and grab onto a tree branch, pushing himself up to his feet. if that wolf gets his arm again it's going to fucking bite it clean off - so he grabs the fucking gun and this time pistol whips the absolute shit out of it with his left hand, slamming it into the top of the wolf's skull and shouting at the top of his lungs. he's loud! he's scary! fuck off!! he fucking hates this! ]
[ Ah. The cop chases after Mabel, and then fires his gun. The bullet hits the leash, slicing it in half so that Miku yelps and runs in a different direction. The bullet then hits Mabel on the foot, in the area where her toes are.
Pistol whipping... well. The aggressive way Ichiro is going about it seems to be working. The wolf tries to claw at him again, frantically, as he hits it. Finally, the wolf just backs off and tries to create space between them.
[ Mabel falls with an anguished cry, clutching her foot in agony, but then remembers what's at stake here. She looks up through tears, only to see the broken leash trailing behind as Miku runs off into the distance. Mabel reaches, but she can hardly squirm through the pain writhing on the floor, much less run after her. ]

[ everything is happening so fast - his Parent Adrenaline kicks in when he hears mabel scream and ichiro shouts - ] Mabel! [ and tries to throw himself in that general direction. the dog's gone, they're not supposed to lose the dog, mabel is hurt and he is rapidly losing blood. this is bad. vision swimming, he manages to at least drag himself over, shoving himself in front of mabel where she's on the ground, protective even if it's the last thing he's gonna do. ]

The cop is torn, unsure about whether he should go after the dog or deal with these two. The former seems to win out, because he just shoots a warning shot at them, that lands a foot away from where they are, and then he runs at the direction of where Miku went. The wolf follows after them.
[ Mabel isn't very well equipped to handle injuries like this, so...she just keeps crying in uncontrollable, heaving jags. Both from the pain in her foot, and for the loss of Miku. ]
